“Thirteen years ago, while raising three young daughters, Susie served as co-president of our cooperative preschool, Westside Parent Education School, during a time when the school’s future was in jeopardy. WPENS is one of the only truly affordable preschools in Santa Cruz, and its demise would have been devastating to the community. Susie led a grassroots community-based campaign to raise over $100,000 and fought for our school, keeping our preschool open to this day and ultimately providing affordable early education to hundreds of local families since that time. We appreciated Susie’s leadership then, and know she’ll advocate for families if she is elected to City Council.”
